Gotham - Season 1 Episode 16: The Blind Fortune Teller
Gotham is the origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. James Gordon and Harvey Bullock are assigned to track down the killer of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The story behind Commissioner James Gordon';;;;;s rise to prominence in Gotham City in the years before Batman';;;;;s arrival. Along the way, Gordon becomes involved with Gotham';;;;;s Mafia families and associates including gangster Fish Mooney, Don Carmine Falcone, and Italian mob boss Salvatore Maroni. Eventually, Gordon is forced to form an unlikely friendship with Bruce, one that will help shape the boy';;;;;s future in becoming the Batman.

So many episodes of the show have given hints as to what Gotham could be if only it could find some narrative depth and focus, and "The Blind Fortune Teller" is another one of those episodes.

There are two moments in this episode that send shivers down your spine. Two moments that shock and throw you off-guard. Two moments that make sure this will always rate as one of the best episodes of Gotham's first season.

This episode may feature a circus, but actually feeling like one, in terms of content, was not the best approach, as it stepped on its own toes constantly, in an effort to make each storyline resonate.

"The Blind Fortune Teller" is everything Gotham's supposed to be: brimming with a slightly unhinged, goofy gothic quality, clown fistfights, supervillain origins and some stuff I can't even comprehend.
