I find Claire and Jamie's dynamic much more interesting when they are subverting 18th century gender roles, not subscribing to them.

Any episode following "The Devil's Mark" last week was going to suffer in terms of pace... That being said, "Lallybroch" still did a very good job in setting up what I'm sure will be a packed venture next time.

From her arrival at Lallybroch, Claire is open and eager to learn. This hour manages to highlight many of the character's virtues, a welcome change from recent episodes where she seemed to be more of a problem-originator than a problem-solver.
