In its fifth season, this [Mad About You] premiere is one of its best. Plakson, who is a recurring character, should give the show a much-needed dose of humor in a year that will center on Jamie's pregnancy.

Uneasy laughs accompany an uneasy birth. Still, the Mad About You season finale is a more blessed event than the competing Roseanne series finale. Having your teeth cleaned is more fun than the Conners' farewell.
