This is a Danny McBride comedy - not exactly funny, but weirdly engaging in its own uncomfortable way. His fans should be pleased. Everyone else will be puzzled - or worse, repulsed.

I admire the gambit, but I couldn't go for it. Witnessing a temper tantrum that's nearly a hate crime is about as funny on TV as it is in the news.

Hardcore fans of McBride and Hill will overlook the familiarity just to have their favorite comedian back. But Vice Principals is unlikely to win over anyone not already converted.
