Tyrant tells the story of the youngest son of a Middle Eastern dictator who returns to his homeland after 20 years and is immediately thrown back into the politics of his youth. In season 2, Barry awaits punishment for leading a failed coup, while Jamal agonizes over whether or not to execute him. Tyrant may be afraid to follow through with some of its most incendiary plot threads, but season two already feels fully-formed, less of a mirage of ideas and promises like last year and more of an actual, richly realized vision.
