Season 3 opens with Charlie looking after the adolescent and increasingly obnoxious Jake for the weekend after Alan falling off the roof; Alan lobbying the principal to keep Jake from getting expelled, while Charlie being left to manage the chiropractic office for the day.

It's certainly got some sitcom pedigree behind it. Also, the cast is on the whole very strong and it's far from being just the Charlie Sheen show.

Now in its third season, Two and a Half Men is an unambitiously slump-shouldered show that nonetheless is so well put together it can tower above a frisky little sea monkey of a sitcom like Arrested Development.
