Well-written characters and a non-zombie outbreak make To The Lake standout from other apocalyptic dramas.

Now might not be the right time for a show like To the Lake, but if we have to have morbid topical media - and it seems we do - then I'm happy for it to be as good as this.

It's superbly paced; thrilling, frightening and singularly enthralling. One of the finds of the year.
