My basic point, and the show's, is this: Barry will always return to doing whatever is best for the Wests -- and the Season 3 premiere "Flashpoint" proved that once again.

After a promising start, last season turned into a depressing muddle. I'm hopeful that now that the timeline has mostly been reset, season 3 can have a fresh start, but this wasn't an inspiring beginning.

Overall, we're off to a promising start to The Flash Season 3, even if the concept of flashpoint itself was a bit of a letdown. It was a good launching pad.

The cause and extent of the damage remains to be seen, but here's hoping the Barry Allen who deals with it is closer to the spirited optimist of the first season than the mopey maker of bad decisions from last year.

Watching the yellow blur saving the city is fresh, having not being given much of a chance to shine in the last season, it's brilliant to finally see Lonsdale get something to play with.

While in the comics, Barry's actions rewrote the whole world with some bizarre and disastrous consequences, here, things are far more subtle, and the focus stays on the people who bring us back week after week.
