Raising Dion - Season 1
An exciting sci-fi series that follows Nicole Reese. Nicole is a single mom who had an ordinary life with her son, Dion. Things change when she discovers that her son has a magical superpower. Nicole and her husband's best friend try to protect Dion from the enemies and know the origin of his abilities.

Ultimately, Raising Dion is a strong, family-oriented story that takes the best parts of the sci-fi, superhero, and comic book genres and blends them together into an appealing show that celebrates differences and the unsung heroism of mothers.

Nobody acts like an actual person. They act like they are in a sitcom or a weak drama, though in the early going Simon and Ritter, as Kat and Pat, at least come off as vaguely normal and believable.

Dion's powers include, for those at his age level and eager to explore their own abilities of empathy and curiosity, extreme watchability.
October 01, 2019
Splicing family drama with comic-book action produces some engaging story beats, but the friction between the two genres eventually makes the show fall apart.

'Raising Dion' is an incredible comic book narrative that's steeped in reality while illustrating a fantastical story. This is not an easy feat to pull off. The production team should give themselves a pat on the back for this one.

Raising Dion isn't perfect, but the season breezed by for me. And it's a show made by people with obvious affection for comics.
October 01, 2019
With its dodgy special effects and hodgepodge of recycled comic-book tropes, Raising Dion is a second-rate superhero series straining for larger relevance that it never quite reaches.
October 03, 2019
In essence, the series feels like two different shows that are being forced to go hand in hand, and it all feels a little jarring.

I have a feeling kids will really gravitate toward it, and parents will have something they can identify with as well.
