In the fourth season of this wonderful series, we discover that the American astronaut John Crichton finds himself familiar with galaxies and planets after a very difficult experimental mission. John meets a group of rebels to engage in intergalactic battles, contrary to what he dreamed of returning to the planet.

These episodes wonderfully pay off long-term stories and deliver ridiculous moments, particularly from Rygel. His love for our food, particularly candy, is especially silly.

The season can be a little offputtingly weird in the early going, and there are two all-time bad episodes back-to-back in the middle, but overall this is such a fundamentally solid and sound season of television.
