Though there are hints of better things to come, the early goings of Black Sails season 4 are light on fun and adventure.

Sound design and cinematography are in top form, and at this point it's almost unnecessary to say each cast member is competing to steal a scene. But it's all in service of the character drama that makes it all matter.

Black Sails threw us right into the center of chaos with an opening onslaught that was both an awesome spectacle and crucial to the story going forward, as perhaps pertaining to Flint vs. Silver.
