EPISODE
The Bible - Season 1
It is a series of real events that speak of God's creation of the earth and the historical events leading to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and other real things in the minds of many. The series also offers a deep insight into the new visions of many of the major biblical figures of the Old and New Testaments, which have provoked a great historical uproar over a period of time.

It's grittier-looking than most Bible stories on film, and the special effects aren't bad. But the leading figures feel like stick figures to me.

Sunday's premiere is indeed true to the spirit of the good book if a bit sparing on details.

The Bible takes a familiarly earnest and plodding approach with a lot of overwrought acting by a cast of a thousand accents.
March 01, 2013
The Bible tackles the most ubiquitous Bible stories in crude, broad strokes, with acting and writing taking a back seat to cheesy CGI spectacle that's likely to make one pine for the relative subtlety and craft of Cecil B. DeMille.

The Bible has its moments, but the producers should have gone for the Gospel truth.
March 04, 2013
This production makes Cecil B. DeMille look like a sober theologian.

This Bible probably won't offend anyone, but it's hard to imagine it will inspire anyone, either.
