One feels Heidecker and Wareheim would do anything for a laugh and that the horrible, humiliating acts they haven't put on film or performed in public are just the ones they haven't had time to get to yet.

Yes, it's funny, and a smart deconstruction of the weird quirks and affectations that can build up over decades within a genre as prescribed as the sitcom. It's also grotesque, though, and genuinely sinister at times.

Like much of their work, the show maintains an impressive balance of satire, reverence, and gleeful filth that's both familiar and completely unlike anything else on TV.
