In a dramatic atmosphere, the movie follows, Poeny, a Chinese girl who flees from an arranged marriage in China and signs a contract in order to work as a flower girl in America. She falls in love with Tom, an American Born Chinese cook, in such hard times during the lynching of 18 Chinese immigrants in Los Angeles.
