Kishanlal marries the beautiful Lachchi, but the day after the wedding, he leaves on business for five years. A ghost takes on Kishanlal's appearance and entered Lachchi's life. A few years later, when Kishanlal returns home, the villagers and relatives get bewildered.

There's more to recommend: M.M. Kreem's fine music (melding traditional Rajasthani instrumentation and a dancehall beat), a gone-cuckoo-for-the-color-wheel costume and set design, and a truly bang-up camel race. Now that's entertainment.

The enthusiastic lack of persuasive realism and the strong emotional authenticity make for a most rewarding combination; the thing acts fizzy and shallow, and yet it ends up feeling like there's truth to it.
