any rough spots are smoothed over by Lake and March's considerable charms, which turn out to be this fantastical comedy's best special effects
November 16, 2005
Delightful American romantic/comedy fantasy film.
November 06, 2013
It may be not be one of the classic examples of a Hollywood screwball comedy -- might I recommend His Girl Friday to anyone interested? -- but I Married a Witch contains enough modest laughs to satisfy couch potatoes on a chilly fall evening.
January 28, 2005
Magical.
October 21, 2013
The film is powered by swooning romanticism, impish wit, teasing sexuality, and an underlying sophistication.
June 21, 2005
Screwball comedy with real bite as beautiful witch torments stodgy politician
March 25, 2006
I Married A Witch is spiritualism in a vein of knockabout farce. It is more oh-boy than occult. But its humor is Clair enough.
April 22, 2011
A strange but charming comedy fantasy by French director Rene Clair made in Hollywood with Veronica Lake.
November 05, 2013
The movie's practical magic still looks perfectly groovy, and doesn't need any kind of digital re-imagining.
February 09, 2006
Lake is delightfully effective as the malicious woman, whose ideas of punishment are often beautifully absurd, and March provides an excellent foil.
March 26, 2009
Carries some interest on the novelty angles, if nothing else, but on the whole is generally tepid.
January 01, 2000
Fans of Veronica Lake won't be disappointed; the special effects are nicely done too.
