Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods
The events of Battle of Gods happen several years after the battle with Majin Buu, which decided the fate of the whole universe. Beerus, the God of Destruction, learns that the galactic overlord Freeza has been taken down by a Super Saiyan from the North Quadrant of the universe Son Goku. Looking for a rival worthy of his power, Beerus, together with his partner Whis, travels to the North Galaxy to challenge Goku to a battle.

This is undoubtedly the weirdest Dragon Ball Z story I've ever seen and that's really saying something.
