A native of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Todd graduated from Atlantic Union College with bachelor's degrees in English and Art. At the University of Vermont he studied screenwriting with John Pielmeier, the screenwriter of Agnes of God, The Pillars of the Earth and many other miniseries and movies.
