Born in Dolly Parton country, in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, Goodner became obsessed with movies at age two, courtesy of "The Incredible Shrinking Woman". That led to more Lily Tomlin, which led to Steve Martin, which led to SNL, and so on. She never considered working in any other field. She attended Gifted classes in South Florida in the 1980s, which led her to attend a highly-ranked academic magnet high school. She graduated from the competitive International Baccelaureate program and earned her BA in Cinema Studies from the University of Central Florida in just two years. She moved to Los Angeles the same week, and soon found work in one of the biggest talent agency story departments, which later led to work as a script reader for other agencies and production companies. In 2013, she won and placed in several screenwriting competitions with various original screenplays.In February of 2016, her first short film, "The Long Arm of the Leprecon", starring legendary character actor James Hong ("Big Trouble in Little China", "Blade Runner", "Chinatown"), premiered at the historic American Cinematheque in Hollywood in the Cinematic Void series, paired with the infamous Danish cult classic, "The Sinful Dwarf". The film also won Best Fantasy Short at Motor City Nightmares.Her first feature screenwriting credit, "A Cinderella Christmas", will air in December 2016, and her next two features will air in December 2017.
