James L. Thompson, Jr. was born in Dothan, Alabama. He graduated from Troy University with a B.S. and M.S. in English Education. He taught high school for four years and then joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1984 as a Special Agent. After five and a half years with the FBI, he resigned and joined the Environmental Protection Agency's Criminal Investigation Division as a Special Agent. In 2007, he retired after 23 years as a federal agent and started to pursue acting. That same year he met Philadelphia filmmaker/screenwriter Pat Taggart and started a friendship/partnership with him as part of Alpaca Pictures. They made several short films together, including "Charlie Applebee", an award-winning feel-good film that is a must-see for everyone. In 2009, Alpaca Pictures made its first feature film with "99 Percent Sure." In 2010, Thompson started Abuzz Filmworks, LLC with a group of talented partners in Dothan, Alabama. Abuzz Filmworks' first production was a short entitled, "The Coloring", written and directed by Thompson. Thompson has emerged as an up and coming actor, writer, author, producer and director.
