Aurora Rowland-Martinez was born in Wichita Kansas, the daughter of Pete Rowland, Sr. She grew up in a single parent household. Her Godparents, Servando and Virginia Burciaga, were always willing to lend a hand. She spent most of her youth in southwestern Kansas and eastern Colorado. She spent a lot of summers working in the sugar beet fields and bean fields. She was driving her father's pick up by the time she was eight years old. She helped her father sell fruits when they were in season. They sold pinto beans to different restaurants in Kansas as well. As a child she enjoyed learning dance moves by watching Soul Train and American Bandstand. Growing up, some of her favorite shows included Sanford and Son, Green Acres, The Jeffersons, and the Andy Griffith Show. She attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. She continued her education when she moved to New York City to earn a Master's of Science in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University.Although Aurora's passion for acting started at an early age, getting a higher education was her first goal. After finishing graduate school, and working as an Occupational Therapist, she returned to Colorado. She fell in love with a childhood friend, Sonny Martinez, and a year and a half later they were married. She started taking acting classes in Colorado. Soon after, they moved to New York City where she continued to take classes and study at the American Indian Community House among other programs. Aurora and her husband decided to make the leap and move to Los Angeles where she continues to work on her acting craft. She is a devout Roman Catholic and is dedicated to serving the church and the community. She continues to work as an Occupational Therapist and services infants and toddlers with special needs. Hide
